About us
WHAT IS CPN-PREV?
Founded in 2017, the Canadian Practitioners Network for the Prevention of Extremist Violence (CPN-PREV) is an evidence-based and practitioner-centered network committed to preventing violent extremism.
VISION
Drawing upon a seven-year track record of engagement in the field, we aspire to serve as a vital hub for knowledge mobilization for individuals and organizations working in the PVE space.
MISSION
We aim to strengthen capacities, support best practices, and encourage collaborative interdisciplinarity among researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and various community actors.
-
CPN-PREV has four inter-related objectives in matters of preventing violent extremism:
Generate evidence- and consensus-based best practice guidelines to prevent violent extremism;
Identify existing initiatives and promote collaboration through a continuous Canada-wide mapping of services;
Develop and strengthen capacity by and for practitioners across sectors and disciplines;
Disseminate resources through knowledge mobilization.
-
At CPN-PREV, we are dedicated to ensuring safe and inclusive collaboration spaces. We value partnerships based on respect and knowledge sharing. We aspire that our efforts are grounded in integrity, dignity, and reciprocity. We are committed to PVE through continuous learning and self-reflexivity.
MULTISECTORAL FRAMEWORK
In collaboration with national and international partners, CPN-PREV is striving to create a safer and more resilient society by addressing the complex issues surrounding violent radicalization and extremism. Through such partnerships, the network aims to ensure enhanced intersectoral readiness and responsiveness to emerging challenges in this critical domain.
