Delphi Processes

So far, we have conducted one consensus conference and Delphi process, and plan to do three subsequent Delphi processes, some of which will be anchored in consensus conferences. You will hereby find a description of each Delphi process, its progress towards completion, and a link to its deliverables (if available).

ONLINE AND OFFLINE PVE

Goal: Develop evidence- and consensus-based best practice guidelines for the primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of violent extremism – online and offline. Relies on the results of three systematic reviews (online radicalization, primary and secondary PVE programs, tertiary PVE programs), as well as a consensus conference conducted in 2019.

RISK ASSESSMENT IN PVE

Goal: Improve risk assessment practice in the field of PVE by developing guidelines on if to assess, when, how, and with whom. Ethical concerns, advantages, and potential iatrogenic effects of assessing risk will be discussed to build consensus on a topic that is, as of now, highly controversial in the PVE space. Relies on the results of a systematic review (risk assessment tools), as well as a consensus conference conducted in 2024.

ONLINE HARM PREVENTION

Goal: Reflect on the best ways to prevent the harms resulting from exposition to or dissemination of hateful online content. Develop evidence- and consensus-based best practice guidelines for prevention at the individual and societal levels.

IMPROVING INTERVENTION AND CASE MANAGEMENT USING TRAJECTORIES IN AND OUT OF VIOLENT EXTREMISM

Goal: Improve case management in the PVE space by developing a knowledge base of the shift markers, tipping points, and protective factors than can be leveraged by practitioners involved with individuals in trajectories towards or away from violent extremism.
