THRIVE

TOWARDS HARVESTING RESPONSABILITY, INNOVATION, VOICE, AND ENGAGEMENT (THRIVE)

THRIVE is a youth-focused intersectoral research, practice, policy, and partnership initiative of CPN-PREV. It advances youth-centred policies by centring the critical voices of young people in dialogue with practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to inform ethical, dignified, and effective approaches to violence prevention.

Grounded in dignity, social justice, and agency, THRIVE creates spaces for shared learning and co-creation to inform more responsive, ethical, and effective approaches to preventing violence.

PARTNERSHIP WITH HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY

As of March 2025, CPN-PREV partnered with the Halifax Regional Municipality on Youth Voices for Safer Communities, an initiative that centres young people as key agents in shaping safer, more inclusive communities. Through dialogue, co-creation, and knowledge exchange, the partnership elevates youth perspectives to inform prevention strategies, strengthen community responses, and support policies grounded in dignity, equity, and lived experience.

YOUTH ROUNDTABLE: VOICES FOR A SAFER HALIFAX

As part of the ongoing Youth Voices for Safer Communities process, led by the Halifax Regional Municipality in partnership with CPN-PREV, this roundtable brings together young people to share their lived experiences, insights, and recommendations for a safer Halifax. Building on consultations with community organizations and workshops held earlier this year, youth will discuss the challenges they face, the spaces where they feel unsafe, and their visions for a city where they can fully belong and thrive. This session is an invitation to listen closely, honor youth leadership, and reaffirm our shared responsibility to build a Halifax grounded in dignity, safety, and human rights for all.

HEARING UNHEARD MOMENTS AND THRIVE

As part of Public Safety Canada’s Megaweek Conference, the Students Commission of Canada (SCC), in partnership with the CPN-PREV, convened a full-day workshop titled Hearing Unheard Moments (HUM) on Wednesday, October 22 at The 519 in Toronto.

This report highlights the key messages and grounding principles that emerged from the collective reflections of 80 participants on the HUM framework. Anchored in CPN-PREV’s principles and informed by Indigenous methodologies, the workshop centred dignity, positionality, reciprocity, relationality, and a commitment to Do No Harm. Facilitated by CPN-PREV, the discussions explored meaningful youth engagement through the SCC’s Four Pillars: Respect, Listen, Understand, and Communicate.
