Navigating Collective Suffering: A two-day facilitated dialogue on dignity, memory, coexistence, and preventing polarization

  • Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada (map)

A shared civic space for personal narratives and lived experience

Hosted by the Conflict and Resilience Research Institute Canada, this two-day event brings together communities whose histories are shaped by displacement, war, colonial violence, persecution, racism, exile, and intergenerational trauma.

The goal is not to compare suffering, but to listen, recognize shared humanity, and build practical pathways toward coexistence.

Guiding Approach:

  • Trauma-informed

  • Respectful storytelling

  • Non-competitive suffering

  • Plurality of narratives

  • Careful facilitation

  • Preventing polarization

Our director, Ghayda Hassan, will participate as one of the four main speakers and facilitators.

Day 1 is by invitation only. Day 2 is a public event with controlled registration and limited seating.
