The Impacts of Online Hate : Pathways to Promising Solutions

Recent years have seen a surge in social polarization and a proliferation of divisive, hateful rhetoric on social media. This webinar, informed by the systematic review Exposure to hate in online and traditional media: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the impact of this exposure on individuals and communities published in Campbell Systematic Reviews, explored the far-reaching consequences of online hate on individuals and society as a whole. In the wake of some big tech rolling back fact-checking and safeguards against hate speech, this webinar aimed to explore policy and on-ground prevention solutions to preserve peace and our social fabric for the future.
